A suspected fire bug is behind bars in Gilbert. Richard Schmidt is accused of starting several dumpster fires in the city this month.
Officials say cops were recently patrolling near the area of Gilbert and Guadalupe roads and smelled smoke.
While chatting with Schmidt, the officers learned about a dumpster fire nearby that he reportedly admitted to setting.
The fires caused around 25-thousand dollars worth of damage.
Schmidt's bail has been set at 50-thousand.
