Police Extending Landfill Search For Missing Mom

Police are extending their exhausting landfill search for the body of a Phoenix mom who vanished in May.

Volunteers have been using hand tools to dig through the trash at the landfill since October to look for clues as to what happened to Christine Mustafa.  The search entered its ninth week Monday and now the search has been extended three more weeks.

Investigators have not said why they believe Mustafa's body might have been tossed in the garbage, but trash from the home she shared with her then boyfriend ends up in the landfill they are searching.

The boyfriend is accused of killing her.
