Flake Defends Free Press From Trump Attacks

Republican Senator Jeff Flake of Arizona is defending the free press from what he sees as  President Trump's attacks.  In a speech on the Senate floor, Flake condemned the President for telling untruths to the American people and for introducing "alternative facts" to the American lexicon.

The senator said the damage Trump has done will not be confined to the length of his presidency.

Flake blasted Trump for suggesting former President Barack Obama was not born in the U.S., for calling Robert Mueller's Russia investigation a hoax, and his "bizarre contention" regarding the crowd size at his inauguration.

Flake's speech comes on the same day President Trump is expected to hand out his "Fake News" awards.
