Flake Says Trump Biggest Hurdle In Passing Bill

Arizona Senator Jeff Flake says President Trump is the biggest impediment to a long-term spending deal that would end the threat of another government shutdown.

A key procedural vote cleared a 60-vote threshold today in the Senate and set the stage for a final vote on a Republican proposal to extend government funding until February 8th.  That became possible when Democrats accepted a commitment from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to take up immigration reform soon.

Republican Flake told reporters that not knowing where the President stands on a future bill that would contain a permanent solution for Dreamers is a big hurdle to jump.
