Former Diamondbacks and Padres general manager Kevin Towers died this morning after battling a rare form of thyroid cancer.
The 56-year-old was GM of the Padres for 14 seasons before serving as the D-backs general manager from 2010 to 2014. Under Towers guidance the Diamondbacks won the NL West in 2011.
He also won four division titles and made it to the World Series while leading the Padres.
