A second vote was held Monday on a tax break for some military veterans and this time it passed. The Arizona Senate voted 18 to 11 to increase tax exemptions for military members. The measure failed by a 15-13 vote last week, but Senator Warren Peterson made a motion yesterday to reconsider the bill. Two Senators switched their votes from "no" to "yes" and a third who was absent last week also voted in favor allowing the measure to easily pass. Under the bill retirement pay exemptions would increase for about 52-thousand Arizona military members from $2,000 to $10,000 by 2019. The bill still needs approval by the House.
