AZ Lawmakers Could Pick U.S. Senate Candidates

A bill that would enable State lawmakers to select who gets to run for U.S. Senate is moving forward in the legislature.

The full House will now vote on the proposal that would give lawmakers the power to nominate Senate candidates.  That's the way it used to be prior to 1913 when the 17th Amendment overruled the process.

If both the House and Senate pass the measure, voters would have to ratify the change in November.
