Toyota Stop Computer Driven Car Testing

Toyota is putting the breaks on testing driverless cars on U.S. roads.  The Japanese auto giant stopped tests of its Chauffeur autonomous driving system after an Uber SUV hit and killed a woman who was crossing a street in Tempe Sunday night.

A Toyota spokesman said in an email last night it's temporarily pausing the tests because the Arizona crash might have an emotional effect on test drivers.

A human safety driver was in the Uber SUV when it hit the woman, who was not in a crosswalk as she pushed her bicycle across a street.
