Arizona teachers appear to be moving closer toward a strike. The Arizona Education Association and Arizona Educators United announced today they've formed a negotiation team. They've sent a letter to Governor Doug Ducey and the Arizona Legislative Leadership telling them they're ready to sit down and discuss teachers' demands. Last week, Governor Ducey rejected their demand for a 20 percent raise. Arizona teachers are ranked at the bottom of the nation in terms of salary and per-student funding. The groups claim that some Arizona students are without full-time certified teachers, updated textbooks and technology, or enough counselors, nurses, and librarians.
