Illegal Campfire Sparked The Tinder Fire

The major wildfire burning north of Payson was caused by a human.  Coconino National Forest officials believe the Tinder Fire started after an illegal campfire got out of control.

Investigators say finding the person responsible may almost be impossible because witnesses in the forest are often nonexistent.

The Tinder Fire started on April 27th and has grown to over 11,400 acres.  The fire has destroyed 30 structures and over a thousand homes are being threatened.  The fire is zero percent contained.
