Plan Approved To Make Dangerous Intersection Safer

(Phoenix, AZ)  Arizona Corporation Commissioners today unanimously approved a City of Phoenix plan to keep the intersection of 35th Avenue and Indian School open to vehicular traffic. The city submitted a plan tot he Commission yesterday to make critical traffic signal and railroad crossing safety enhancements to the crossing there. Last week, Commissioners unanimously voted to order Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railway Company to close the crossing to vehicular traffic on May 19th. Yesterday, the City of Phoenix submitted a plan to the Corporation Commission to make the necessary safety upgrades by May 29th.   The city says it will make all the necessary upgrades by May 29th and will get started this weekend. The plan also commits to a 12-month review and evaluation of the crossing upgrades.
