(Phoenix, AZ) -- Arizonans can still weigh in on proposed Science Standards. The public comment period was supposed to end last night, but the Arizona Department of Education is extending it until noon on Thursday due technical difficulties on its web page. Superintendent of Public Instruction Diane Douglas wants to eliminate some references to the word "evolution" and replace it with terms like "biological diversity." She also proposed changing the appearance of the word evolution to "the theory of evolution." That has generated strong backlash from some in the education and science communities.
