Hikers Being Urged To Take Caution

Temps are expected to hit near 110 this weekend, and hikers need to remember some tips. The Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department is extending some park hours so folks can hike later in the day, when it's cooler.

The department sent out a safety warning saying people who take on the local mountains in 100 degree heat should stay hydrated, and most importantly, turn back before the water supply is half way gone.

About 200 people are rescued from parks in the area each year.
