Arizona State University is heading to Mesa. The City Council approved a 99-year lease agreement that will allow for a satellite campus to be built in downtown. City leaders believe the move will set the stage for robust economic development. Voters in the city turned down a sales tax hike a couple years ago for the project, but the council voted 5-2 in favor of the agreement Monday. The building is expected to cost around $65 million in tax payer dollars.
