(Mesa, AZ) Three independent investigations have been launched into the Mesa Police Department. Mesa Police Chief Ramon Batista says use of force incidents over the past three years will be investigated by an independent firm which will also review policy and training procedures.
In addition he's brought in former Maricopa County Attorney Rick Romley to work with the internal investigation. Batista says what he's seen on video is disturbing. There have been two use of force incidents in just the last couple of weeks, resulting in six members of the force being placed on leave. The Scottsdale Police Department is investigating one of those incidents showing officers beating a man for possible criminal charges.
