Lawyers for the city of Phoenix are in court today to defend it against a lawsuit filed over the release of documents concerning the renovation of Talking Stick Resort arena.
The Goldwater Institute and a developer sued the city saying discussions concerning the project have taken place away from the public eye. But the city argues that current law protects public works projects from public scrutiny while they are in the developmental stages so as not to jeopardize negotiations.
The city says it will turn over the requested information once a deal is finalized and a contract is awarded for the renovation work.
