Teachers Could Be Punished For Walking Out

Ten-of-thousands of Arizona teachers could face punishment for taking part in the historic #RedForEd walkout.  The Arizona State Board of Education will discuss whether it has the legal authority to take action against the teachers on Monday.  If a teacher is found guilty of misconduct the board has the ability to discipline either through censure or the revocation of teaching certificates.  More than 50,000 teachers rallied at the state Capitol in April to demand pay raises.  In response, Governor Doug Ducey is providing 20-percent raises by 2020.
