It's Navajo Code Talkers Day

It's Navajo Code Talkers Day.  A day dedicated to the men who used the Navajo language in a code that helped achieve victory in the Pacific during World War II.

More than 400 Navajo men were recruited by the U.S. Marines to develop a code in their native language, which was used to transmit military messages.

President Ronald Reagan signed the proclamation that designated August 14th as National Navajo Code Talkers Day.  Celebrations will be held by the Navajo Nation in Window Rock today.
