Phoenix Medical Marijuana Tax Plan Not Advancing

The plan to tax medical marijuana in Phoenix is going up in smoke.  The City Council debated and talked for hours about the proposal to tax the medical marijuana industry last night, but it's not moving forward.

The idea was to use the money for public safety upgrades, mainly to boost the numbers of police officers and firefighters.

During the debate the folks fighting against the tax came from advocates of medical marijuana, saying they can't afford to pay more money for their medicine.  The measure was eventually voted down.
