A strange light in the evening sky in Northern California is lighting up social media. People in Redding Wednesday night posted images of a glowing ball that left a wavy trail in the sky at about 6:30 pm.
The National Weather Service quickly weighed in that it was probably a meteor, and shifting winds were likely responsible for the curvy trail it left behind. They also said it could be debris from a satellite.
And that wasn't the only odd sighting in the Southwest. The Arizona Department of Transportation tweeted a photo from a freeway camera near Phoenix pointing out some lights in the sky it said were "too large to be stars."
