AZ Bill Would Raise Gas Tax To Pay For Roads

A Republican state representative has introduced a bill to help pay for the upkeep of Arizona's roads, but it would drive up the price of gas. House Bill 2536 would raise motor vehicle use fees dramatically over the next few years. Right now, Arizona's gas tax is 18-cent per gallon. Representative Noel Campbell's bill would raise the tax to 43 cents a gallon by 2021. He says Arizona currently has just 47% of the funds needed to maintain roads in the state.
