Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez believes that Venezuela's President Maduro should remain in power. She has no reason to oppose a leader like Maduro because they both believe in the same ideology known as Socialism.
Ocasio-Cortez may dress it up as Democratic Socialism but in its foundation they believe in a lot of the same things.
So now that Maduro is openly oppressing his people and the United States has publicly shown support for Maduro's replacement Juan Guaido the pressure is on for politicians to pick sides. One would think that choosing sides between oppression and freedom would not be hard but Democrats have dug in their heels with their beliefs and are now seen backing Maduro.
Ocasio-Cortez in the video above says "it is a complicated issue." But then also goes on to say that "I am opposed to interventionism," and it "would be a profound mistake."
What Maduro is doing to his people is wrong. There is no middle ground and he needs to be removed.
But leave it to the Democrats to be totally non-committal when it comes to taking down a shining example of their failed policy and ideology that have now defined their party.
