A Michigan sheriff's deputy is being hailed as a hero for her courageous actions to help a 63-year-old driver who suffered a medical emergency. On September 12, the Macomb County Sheriff's Department received reports of an erratic driver in Mount Clemens and dispatched Deputies Nicole Miron and Anthony Gross to investigate.

They searched the area and encountered a silver GMC Sierra that was driving slowly, swerving, and striking the curb. They tried to pull the driver over, but he didn't respond. As they pulled up alongside him, they realized he was unconscious. That's when Miron decided she was going to jump from her patrol into the truck.

As Gross pulled up alongside the moving truck, Miron tried to break the rear window on the driver's side. While the glass didn't break, the sound woke up the driver, who suffered from an undisclosed medical emergency. He then rolled down the driver's side window, allowing Miron to jump from her car into his truck.

"Luckily, I am very small. When I went through the window, it was a big-size front kind of window, I was able to slide right through. I don't think any of my gun or gear touched him, so I slid through, my small stature helped, and the fact that we were a two-man car helped," Miron told WXYZ.

Once she was in the truck, Miron quickly put it into park and called for an ambulance. Paramedics arrived and took the man to the hospital. He has since recovered and been released.

"I commend Deputy Miron for putting herself in harm's way to help a citizen in need and protect other drivers on the roadway," stated Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham. "Due to her quick thinking and selfless actions, she safely ended what could have been a tragic situation."
