There's an obsession with tying President Donald Trump to Vladimir Putin.
It started with Hillary Clinton back in 2016. Her campaign paid a former British spy, who was investigated for his own Russia ties by the FBI, to dig up 'dirt' on Trump
The 'dirt' Christopher Steele came up with was fake.
That didn't stop the FBI from using those allegations to spy on Trump's campaign. The FBI then busted Michael Flynn for lying in an attempt to get to Trump. Then Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats staged a political impeachment hoping to damage the President as he seeks re-election.
Nothing stuck. Notice the Democrats aren't running on the fact they impeached Trump. There's two reasons. First, it doesn't poll well. Second, the entire impeachment was political.
Yet, the Democrats and media are still working overtime to try and link Trump to Russia.
The website Politico is the latest. They interviewed Trump's second National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster. Here's the headline and sub-headline:
Trump’s ex-national security adviser says president is ‘aiding and abetting’ Putin
H.R. McMaster’s warning represents perhaps his harshest public criticism of the president since the retired general was ousted from the White House in 2018.
Here's what McMaster actually said.
“I agree that he is aiding and abetting Putin’s efforts by not being direct about this, right? By not just calling out Putin for what he’s doing,” McMaster said.
“You know, Putin gets away with, I mean, literally murder or attempted murder … because people don’t call him out on it,” he added. “And so they are able to continue with this kind of fire hose of falsehood, to sow these conspiracy theories. And we just can’t be our own worst enemies.”
So, in other words, Trump is aiding and abetting Putin simply by not speaking out about the Russian President's poisonous ways? As if Putin would stop poisoning his opponents because Donald Trump publicly denounced those practices.
Come on, man.
Former Presidents Bush and Obama were not able to stop Putin from allegedly jailing or assassinating political opponents. So, are they also tied to Putin?
What about Hillary Clinton's Russia ties?
From The Hill:
The Podesta Group also represented Russia-owned Uranium One, which received approval from a federal oversight board that included the State Department under Hillary Clinton to buy about one-fifth of the U.S. production capacity of uranium, a key material for making nuclear weapons.
John Podesta also ran Hillary's 2016 campaign. How come Politico doesn't remind us of this in their Trump smear-piece?
Instead Politico writes:
McMaster’s remarks Thursday represent perhaps his harshest public criticism of the president since he was ousted from the White House in 2018.
Figures, they are in on it too.
