With less than a week until Election Day, Maricopa County has already seen a record-breaking number of voters. According to county recorder Adrian Fontes, more early ballots were cast this year than in 2016.
According to officials, 1.25 million people cast their votes early in 2016. This year, 2 million people have requested an early ballot with 1.26 million votes counted as of Wednesday, October 28th.
According to a press release, more than 80,000 residents have voted in person at local voting centers across the county.
Fontes stated in a release, "Maricopa voters like to vote early and this election has been no exception. We are seeing a record number of early ballots returned and the enthusiasm is very exciting."
There are dozens of voting centers open across the county for people to return their ballots or vote.
There will be over 100 locations open on Friday and Saturday, and more than 20 voting sites available on Sunday to finish off early voting.
More than 150 locations will be open for last-minute voters to drop off ballots on November 2nd as well.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd.
