The Phoenix Theater Company Opening Outdoor Venue

After nearly eight months of being shut down due to the global coronavirus pandemic, The Phoenix Theater Company is getting ready to reopen.

The group is building an outdoor venue at Central United Methodist Church in the Downtown area of Phoenix.

There will be new safety measures in place to ensure the health and safety of the guests, actors, and employees. "All of our seating is done in pairs. Each pair is separated by 6 feet of distance," Karla Frederick, director of production, told AZ Family.

The Phoenix Theater Company performers Trish Ditsworth and Matravius Avent say that they are very excited to finally get back on stage and perform for an audience. They both say that the past months have been a very difficult time.

Ditsworth stated, "We have been practicing basically out whole lives for these careers, so when that stops, you just feel like you are not yourself."

The reopening is set for next month on November 10th with the production of "Happy Birthday, Dionne," a tribute to singer Dionne Warwick.

The outdoor programs are set to run until May of 2021.
