The Texas Alerts system mistakenly issued an Amber Alert for Chucky, the murderous doll from the Child’s Play film series, and his fictional son, Glen Ray, on Friday morning (January 29).
As uncanny as it sounds, images of the false alert described Chucky as a “suspect” in the supposed “disappearance” of Glen, who is listed as the “abducted child.” Even stranger, the alert used images of the dolls, describing them both in complete detail.
Chucky is listed as a 28-year-old with red or auburn hair and blue eyes, standing at 3’1”, weighing 16 pounds, and described his race as “Other: Doll.” In additional information about the doll, the alert notes Chucky’s infamous attire: “Blue denim overalls with multi-colored striped long sleeve shirt wielding a huge kitchen knife.”
Similarly, Glen is described as being 5 years old, white, weighing six pounds, and standing at 2’3”. As horror moviegoers know, Chucky’s son was introduced in the 2004 horror film, Seed of Chucky.
Although Texas’ Department of Public Safety stated the alert was the result of a “test malfunction,” local outlets report that subscribers of the Texas Alerts System were alerted three separate times via email.
"This alert is a result of a test malfunction,” the Texas DPS shared in a statement. “We apologize for the confusion this may have caused and are diligently working to ensure this does not happen again."
