Biden Abandons Arizona & Texas At The Border

Presidents are supposed to solve problems. President Joe Biden is about to make Arizona's biggest challenge more difficult. In May, Biden will not allow Title 42 to be used to send migrants home. The Wall Street Journal (paywall) describes Title 42 as "a Trump-era pandemic border policy that allows the government to immediately turn away migrants at the southern border."

The Border Patrol is already overwhelmed. So is the immigration court system that handles migration cases. Removing one tool will make the situation worse. Thousands of migrants show up every day stressing holding facilities. Migrants are processed and given court dates two to five years in the future. Then they are off.

One family we ran into in Yuma, Arizona was headed to Orlando. They came from Columbia, turned themselves into Border Patrol agents, and waited for processing. That's all that was blocking them from their final destination. Over half of migrants given court dates won't show up. The removal of Title 42 will increase the number of migrants who are allowed to enter Arizona and the rest of the United States. Not only that, but the rule's removal will also encourage even more migration as Border Patrol agents in Arizona and Texas have indicated March may be the busiest month of all time.

And then there are the drugs. 80% of illegal narcotics in the U.S. come in through Arizona. This, too, will only get worse and lead to more overdose deaths.

Thanks for abandoning Arizona and Texas Mr. President.
