The moment that seemed inevitable has now finally come about. Putin has invaded Ukraine and now the eyes of the world are upon the region. The only instances that Putin acted in this manner in the last 20 years were when the United States was either in direct transition in leadership or when a useless Democrat leader, who could not showcase the might of the United States, was in power. We are presently now in one of those time periods and the world is taking notice.
Taking action now against Putin admits policy failure on a massive scale. Biden has been preoccupied trying not to be Donald Trump instead of being a real leader. This country decided that having a strong leader with a strong message while not liking the methods he used to give that strong message was not worth it. Now we as a country and as a world are stuck with the very dangerous and very inept Biden Administration. (Even Jen Psaki is leaving.)
Spilling blood and treasure to fight a war for NATO is a terrible idea and does not add any tangible accomplishment even with a successful tampering down of Russian aggression. Why did Russia not do what they are doing now while Trump was in office? That answer is simple---Putin and Trump dared not to egregiously act against each other. They both had a major role to play on the global stage and upsetting that balance would prove to be catastrophic.
Since Putin knows Biden's response is not credible he feels he can do whatever he wants for whatever end game he chooses. Biden may feel as if he has control but he really is now just along for the ride. Someone is going to have to step up and lead and we all know it is not going to be Biden.
